Strain Spotlight: Midnite

Midnight Strain Cannabis bud

Strain Name & Effect

Midnite is one of Seed & Smith’s original strains and appropriately named for its ability to calm the mind and put you in a relaxed state. We carry this proprietary strain in flower, dabbables, as well as in our DART pods & carts. Come chat with one of our knowledgeable budtenders who will be happy to share stories about the Midnite effect!

Genetics & Cultivation

Midnite is an indica dominant hybrid of Bubba Kush and Chem #4, two well known strains in the cannabis world. Chem #4, also known as Chemdawg or Chemdog #4, is one of the most prominent strains in the Chemdog line. This strain has quite a unique tale behind it, which you can read in this short Weedmaps article here. Bubba Kush has an interesting story of its own. It began as an unknown indica plant and was pollinated with OG Kush in Louisiana sometime in 1996. As they say, the rest is history.

Midnite grows like a true indica plant: short, stocky colas and dense nugs. If you’ve been to Seed & Smith when a Midnite plant is growing, you know just how beautiful this strain is!

Prominent Terpenes & Terpene Profile of Midnite

Myrcene, b-Caryophyllene, Limonene, Linalool

The terpene profile for Midnite possess sedative and anti-anxiety properties, classic traits of an indica strain. These terpenes play an important role in the entourage effect, which may provide a unique experience for each consumer . To learn more about terpenes and the entourage effect, check out our previous article!

Myrcene is one of the most common terpenes found in cannabis and in other plants, most notably cardamom, bay leaves, and parsley. This terpene provides sedative effects, and many believe that higher levels of Myrcene can predict whether a strain feels like an indica vs a sativa.

Beta-Caryophyllene is another common terpene which has a spicy, peppery taste and has strong anti-anxiety properties. Not surprisingly, this terpene can be found in black pepper!

Limonene is one of the most common terpenes found in nature, with a strong citrus aroma and flavor. Limonene provides anti-anxiety and depressant effects, as well as anti-inflammatory properties.

Linalool is a light, floral terpene which can be found in lavender and other fruits such as pineapple. Linalool can provide stress relief and is a great cure for insomnia!

Midnite’s Effects & Sensations

Due to its special terpene profile, Midnite provides a true sense of relief and relaxation. Not only is this cultivar a powerful fighter against anxiety, but it assists in calming the mind and relaxing the body before bedtime. New users should start slowly with this strain–regardless of the THC percentage, this strain is known to be a heavy hitter. Recently, Midnite tested at 29% total THC!
