Wiped film short path distillation utilizes a wiping action of feed liquids through the heated still body, maximizing surface area for optimal heat transfer. These features allow lower distillation temperatures while significantly cutting down residence times of the feed liquid. Lower temperatures and residence times minimize product decomposition, producing the highest purity and quality distillate.

Wiped film short path distillation allows Seed and Smith to produce consistent, high potency base oils for every product line incorporating distillate. The achieved purities provide excellent oil for edibles and topicals, as well as a clean, neutral tasting base oil for terpene re-introduced distillate cartridges.
